These points are so small that collectors termed them "Bird Points" erroneously.
They are in fact bow and arrow points, much smaller and lighter than the dart points that are usually called "arrowheads". In Texas, these points date from about 2000 to 200 years ago.

A shot of my bird point frame in early 2006. Most of the bird points on my home page have been added into it since then! These are mainly from Hunt, Kaufman, and Limestone counties in Texas.

One of my best birdies ever . . . last hunt of 2005
This little beauty was lying fully exposed in shallow water, on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005. The picture doesn't even begin to do it justice!! It was so thin and delicate I was afraid to put it in my pocket, so I carried it back to the car in my mouth! |

I HAD TO LET THESE TWO GO . . . .
Here are a pair of dandy Steiners. The bigger one was a personal find of mine from the fall of 2000 near Quinlan, TX. The smaller one was found back in the 70's by my Dad. I sold them in the summer of 2002 to help pay my kids' tuition, but I have these lovely photos to remember them by!! |
